Importance of filtered water for Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apsos

We only use filtered water for cooking and drinking in our household to reduce the intake of chemicals by both humans and the furbabies. It is our opinion that filtered water is less taxing on the kidneys and can potentially reduce tear staining in some Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apsos. For us humans, the filtered water is more palatable in our personal experience.

To ensure a steady supply, we use a couple of Brita water filter pitchers. We change the filters once a month. One important aspect to keep in mind is the need to clean the pitcher at least once a week, or else algae start to grow and a green tint develops in the pitcher. Gross!

Ideally, we would have a reverse osmosis filtration system installed. However, at this time, it is not feasible.
