1. About Barkley - Applicants must apply at https://www.lahpstr.com to be approved and considered. Not suitable for first-time dog owners. Barkley is a 10-year-old Lhasa Apso who weighs about 20 lbs and is fully vetted to the highest standards. His gorgeous face has a unique marking. He came to us after displaying domineering "Lhasatude" including biting and food guarding tendencies. Barkley has undergone behavior-modification training and is now ready for his very own loving home! He has not been tested with cats or larger dogs. 2. Barkley's temperament and energy level - friendly with people; - good with other dogs, but prefers to hang out on his own; - low energy. He sometimes grabs a toy to play. He prefers to sit on his bed and watch the world go by; - fully house trained; - enjoys car rides; - has done really well with training, but will on occasion be strong-minded and obstinate. He will sit and wait to be released for his food. He is food-motivated, which helps with ongoing behavior modification. 3. Vetting Fully vetted - neutered; UTD on core shots and bordetella; comprehensive bloodwork; fecal test; 4Dx test; dental; and microchipped. 4. Health Challenges None 5. Adoption Donation $150 6. Barkley's ideal home Barkley is mostly a laidback and low-maintenance dog. His perfect family should, however, be experienced with Lhasa Apsos and their behavioral tendencies that include biting. Barkley is a typical Lhasa who can be head-strong and will sometimes challenge his human. Accordingly, he needs a strong, patient and understanding leader who will provide structure, consistency and gentle discipline in his daily routine, while respecting his personality and space. A quiet home with no children under the age of 16 is required on account of Barkley's history. Barkley is largely indifferent to other dogs. A fenced yard is preferred because he is a runner. Barkley will make a wonderful little companion to the right person(s)! Are you ready to open your heart and home to this gorgeous baby boy? We encourage applicants with a history of responsible pet ownership, or first-time dog owners who can demonstrate a commitment to loving a rescue dog, to apply at https://www.lahpstr.com.
